Mayamalava Gowla

This is the first ragam that people who learn carnatic music get exposed to , the sarali swaralu
( స రి గ మా ప ధా ని స ) are based on this ragam.
The reason for such a hurried post is because I was hearing to Yamaho ni yama yama from JVAS which is based on this ragam.

Again use of this ragam for such a mass number - only raja can do

Hamsadhwani

Hamsadhwani means the call of a hamsa (Swan). I have never heard the dhwani of hamsa, but I have heard that a Hamsa can separate milk from water and also it seems to have a graceful walk.
This raga can pep you up in any mood. There are limited number of songs in films as far as I know.
In traditional songs, the most popular is ' Vathapi Ganapathim Bhaje' (Muthuswami deekshitar krithi).

Sindhu Bhairavi

This ragam is supposed to have been the first ragam played by Goddess Saraswati on her Veena. I have read and heard that it is similar to the Hindustani Bhairavi. (I do not know the swaras, will quote when i find them).
The famous patriotic song "Mile Sur Mera tumhara" is based on this ragam. I believe each music director has a distinct style in composing in this raagam.
Illayaraja and Saluri rajeswara rao come on top of my mind when i think of this ragam.
